new ideas

I`m going to start work on a new collection... spring summer 2013... researching now... its fun to start a new project.

Have you ever wondered how the hell creators come up with there ideas? for example, for movies, novels, paintings... or clothes?

maybe I can share my inspiration here on my blog and anwer that question!

I also finished my floral safari dress today.

 Making the stencil, like the flowers on the cotton fabric.

 First trial.

 The finished dress. its a really nice light weight cotton indigo twill.

This dress is about 5 year old size or for a 110cm tall girl.
I've also designed a skirt and pair of boys trousers to match this dress, in the same fabric and same details.

My inspiration

I made  these dollies last Christmas. I want to make more for this Christmas, I'm thinking of making them with matching cotton pyjamas.

My daughter in a yellow cotton embroidery englaise dress. Sophia also in a cotton embroidery englaise dress, but in lilac.

 a pretty cotton dress for a 10 year old girl.

Isabella in her school pinny. i made many for all her school friends.

 I painted their names on them and on some painted tinker-bell!

I am really enjoying making kids wear at the moment. during the summer i made a few little girl dresses on request and now i am making a collection. its called Laura kennards safari kids.

A dress I made for Gabriela

I painted grape vine leaves with my own stencil on the dress,in a pink. The stalk, curls and leaf veins are in shimmering silver.

The dress is asymmetric, in linen, with hand made olive wood buttons from local artisans.

My Summer 2011 collection

This  collection was inspired by Alentejos nature. its made out of linens and cotton. i hand painted with my own stencils on some of the garments. i really enjoyed making them and it was successful.
I did a photo shoot of 4 dresses, in Celar, a valley in alentejo, complete wilderness.
The photographer is a friend of mine, called Monica Curtin, I think she did a great job! have a look...
